Title

June 1, 1911 A

Subject

Togus, Maine Avenue

Description

Notes: This dating is somewhat arbitrary. Jennie’s relationship with Abbie W. Roberts spanned three years 1910-1913. Clearly there wasn’t a very close connection between the two women. In late May of 1911, Abbie wrote that she would send cards of the two lighthouses on Lake Cobbosee. The assumption is that this card was sent under separate cover at the same time. The Leighton cards were only manufactured for a short period between 1906 and 1909. Thereafter Leighton merged with Valentine. Another Togus card from this same series was sent by Carrie Fifield when her brother-in-law, John Cole, died in 1912.
