Subject

Crow’s Nest. Summer Home of the Late Joe Jefferson, Buzzards Bay, Mass. Joseph Jefferson Memorial Boulder, Bay View Cemetery, Sandwich, Mass. 1368/70, 1075

Description

Notes: The image numbers listed above were apparently assigned to each of the four views on the card. In some ways this card is among the most interesting of the collection. Here is Emma purchasing a card that you might expect a tourist in today’s Hollywood to have bought. Jefferson was one of the best known of stars of the 19th century American stage. Surely Emma had a sense that her father (Charles Nelson) and her uncle (Ben Cotton, the minstrel) had shared some of that public spotlight.
