Title

Aug. 11, 1913 A

Subject

Railroad Station, on Broad St. Pawtucket, R.I.

Description

Notes: The home on Maddaket Road was at least a mile out of town. Emma seems to be suggesting that Jennie would walk to town and, once the boat arrived, the two of them would hire a ride back to Jennie’s home. Emma did make the trip to visit Jennie and her father, Charles Nelson Cotton. It may very well have been the last time that Emma saw her father. He would die in Nantucket a little over a year later, on November 5, 1914, at 80. A 'Personal' note published in the Nantucket Inquirer and Mirror on September 6, 1913, recorded the visit: "Mrs. Franklin N. Blake, of Pawtucket, has been a guest of Jennie Dunham, for two weeks."
